Role within the project:

The main contribution of UNIGRAZ in ASSISIbf (besides the work as coordinator and consortiums main representative while interaction with European Union) is to perform experiments with honeybees by using the novel experimental setup developed in ASSISIbf. By doing so, we will gain deep insights into the behavioural programs, that allow honeybees to interact as a de-central self-organising entity. The result of this research, besides the scientific gain, is the development of new algorithms for swarm-robot control. By using learning algorithms in the CASU-hardware, we will also gain knowledge about the mechanisms, that will allow machines (and of course humans) to interact and comunicate with groups of honeybees, what will enable us to develop better methods to keep and rear bees.
